Bailout for Plaintiffs' Trial Lawyers

The
National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI),
which proposes rates for insurers in Florida,
proposed an 18.6% increase in Florida workers’
compensation rates in response to the Florida
Supreme Court’s opinion in Murray v. Mariner
Health. The negative economic impact to Florida
employers is likely to be in the hundreds of
millions of dollars. This rate increase reflects
what the business community has said all along: the
Murray decision allows plaintiffs’ trial lawyers to
drive up their hourly fees through drawn out
litigation and frivolous claims.
2008 GENERAL Election
Florida Chamber CCE Endorsed Candidates Prevail in
100% of Their Races for Florida Senate and 94% for
Florida House
In the Florida
Legislature, employer-friendly, pro-jobs candidates
prevailed in this year’s General Election.
Consistent with final pre-election Florida Chamber
polling, Florida voters supported Illinois Senator
Barack Obama (D) in the race for U.S. President.
