To reach the 2030 Blueprint goal of being a top-12 legal climate by 2030, Florida has a long way to go from its current bottom-5 ranking. While Florida found its way off the “Judicial Hellhole” list for the second year in a row, we remained on the “Watch List” due to overdue and necessary legislation addressing bad faith reform, accuracy in damages, fee multipliers, and other cost drivers continuing to languish in the Florida Legislature. Credit must be given to Governor Ron DeSantis for appointing judges who appear willing to address Florida’s rampant lawsuit abuse, as evidenced by the Florida Supreme Court’s recent actions adopting the federal summary judgment standard and extending the Apex Doctrine to corporate officers.
