Florida Chamber Foundation Releases Business Climate & Competitiveness Recommendations from Florida 2030 Report
BRADENTON, Fla. (Sept. 13, 2018) – The Florida Chamber Foundation today released preliminary recommendations on the future of Florida’s business climate and competitiveness during its Florida 2030 Business Climate & Competitiveness Rollout. Florida 2030 is a three-year research project that seeks to identify the challenges and opportunities facing Florida between now and 2030 and create a blueprint for Florida’s future.
“I believe that Florida is moving in the right direction, but it is vitally important that we all work hard to sustain our momentum,” said Steve Knopik, CEO of Bealls Inc. and Past Chair of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. “The Florida 2030 research report is a rich source of information on where our state is headed in the decade ahead and outlines some important steps that we must consider to meet our challenges head-on. Opportunities for future success abound, and I believe that we all must shoulder some of the responsibility to act so that Florida continues to be the best state in which to live, work, learn and start a business.”
Discussion at today’s statewide rollout centered on how Florida can continue to create a strong and responsive business climate, and how to ensure Florida remains a world-class destination for talent, capital and opportunity.
Research released today shows:
- Florida ranks 2nd best state in the nation to do business, and more than 667,000 business establishments called Florida home in 2017. How can Florida leverage its globally competitive business climate to adapt to the changing nature of work, and attract and retain increasingly mobile entrepreneurs and “gig” economy workers?
- While Florida has one of the best state business tax climates in the nation, businesses remain concerned about the costs related to Florida’s 5th worst legal climate ranking. How can Florida reverse this trend, and become one of the best legal climates in the nation by 2030?
