Point of View: DeSantis is better choice for Florida’s future
Voter Guide Florida Chamber Endorsements Constitutional Amendments
Floridians continue to say Florida is headed in the right direction. On November 6, Floridians will make an important choice between keeping the momentum going, or stopping it and letting it go the way of New York, Illinois and California.
This positive momentum stems from small and local businesses creating 1 out of every 11 new American jobs. Right now Florida has more than 243,000 available jobs, wages and opportunity are up, unemployment is down, and our education system is recognized as one of the best.
The Florida Chamber of Commerce is a non-partisan, pro-jobs organization, and we’ve analyzed the economic and education plans of Ron DeSantis and Andrew Gillum. We encourage Floridians to set political divisions aside, focus on the policies of the two candidates, and cast your vote based on policies to continue moving Florida forward.
The right policies and team leaders for Florida’s future are Ron DeSantis and Jeanette Nunez.
DeSantis is concerned about jobs and families, and is willing to fight for policies supporting high-wage jobs, improving Florida’s education system and protecting Florida’s environment. His detailed economic and education policies will keep Florida’s economy moving forward.
He will accelerate small and local business growth by eliminating outdated regulations creating barriers to small businesses. He will connect businesses with a well-trained workforce, and guarantee small businesses have even more access to capital.
DeSantis will maintain Florida’s low-tax status, and veto any tax hike sent to him. He supports requiring a supermajority vote to raise any tax or fee on families and job creators. After all, keeping hard-earned dollars in Floridians’ pockets is important, and DeSantis is the only candidate that will ensure no new taxes or fees are raised on his watch.
DeSantis understands that protecting our environment is vital. His pledge to focus on science-based solutions instead of politically driven distractions has earned him the endorsement of environmental advocates.
Floridians are paying some of the highest home and auto insurance rates in the nation – rates driven up by Florida’s massive lawsuit abuse problem. DeSantis will put families and job creators ahead of billboard trial lawyers and frivolous lawsuits, and help stop shady activities driving rates up. Meanwhile, his opponent has accepted more than $1 million in contributions from billboard trial lawyers.
