VISIT FLORIDA Bill Passes Out of Senate
On April 17, a Florida-Chamber backed bill reauthorizing VISIT FLORIDA unanimously passed out of the Senate. SB 178, sponsored by Senator Joe Gruters, continues the existence of VISIT FLORIDA—allowing the promotion of Florida as an “open for business state” and a tourism destination for national and international visitors. Florida’s tourism industry is a key driver of our state’s $1 trillion economy. Visitors to Florida contribute more than $12 billion in state and local tax revenue annually. For every 76 visitors to Florida, one new job is created. Florida has more than 1.4 million tourism-related jobs, and revenue from visitors is why Florida is an income tax free state. Thank you to Senator Joe Gruters for your leadership on this issue. |
