Florida Chamber of Commerce Statement on Florida Supreme Court Approving Minimum Wage Measure for 2020 Ballot

Tallahassee, Fla. (December 19, 2019) – The Florida Chamber of Commerce today issued the following statement from Edie Ousley, Vice President of Public Affairs regarding the Florida Supreme Court’s approval of the minimum wage measure for the 2020 ballot.

“We fully expected it to be confirmed, but that doesn’t make it a good idea.

“This ballot measure will actually hurt the very people its proponent claims it will help.

“In fact, Florida could very likely lose nearly half a million jobs by 2026, and we’ve seen estimates that are higher than that.

“This is a turn out weapon to impact the presidential election masquerading as a proposed constitutional amendment.”
