Florida Chamber of Commerce Endorses Ray Rodrigues
In Senate District 27 Race
TALLAHASSEE, FL (July 1, 2020) – The Florida Chamber of Commerce is uniting Florida’s business community for good, and today endorsed Ray Rodrigues in the Senate District 27 race to replace term-limited Senator Lizbeth Benacquisto.
Ray Rodrigues has a solid track record of supporting lawsuit abuse reforms, while also fighting back against job-killing regulations, and has earned a 100 percent “A” on the Florida Chamber’s 2020 Legislative Report Card.
“Now more than ever, Florida’s small business owners need a pro-jobs champion like Ray Rodrigues in the Florida Senate, instead of a trial lawyer whose industry is making a sport out of filing warrantless virus-related lawsuits against businesses,” said Nick Catroppo, Vice President of Political Operations, Florida Chamber of Commerce.
The other candidate in this race, Heather Fitzenhagen, is a personal injury trial lawyer formerly employed by the largest personal injury trial firm in the nation. She earned a 72 percent “C” – the lowest grade of all Republicans in the Florida Legislature – on the Florida Chamber’s 2020 Legislative Report Card.
The latest Florida Chamber statewide poll of likely Florida voters shows that 71 percent support COVID-19 liability protections for businesses that are working hard to protect the health and safety of employees and customers, and they believe the Florida Legislature should pass legislation to provide these safe harbors for job creators. Ray Rodrigues is the only candidate for Senate District 27 who has exhibited the leadership necessary to advance these types of commonsense, pro-business efforts.
“It’s an honor to have the support of Florida’s business community and job creators. I have spent my time in the legislature fighting to create a business climate that is conducive to creating jobs, growing our economy and promoting opportunities for our citizens to excel. I will hit the ground running to help ensure we provide job creators the tools and support they need to succeed,” Ray Rodrigues said.
The Florida Chamber is proud to support Ray Rodrigues and to put its full 100-plus years of combined political experience behind getting him elected.
