Learners to Earners Workforce Summit
Throughout Florida, job creators say their top concern is recruiting a ready and capable workforce. With 244,300 open jobs available and 398,000 Floridians looking for jobs, it is clear that Florida has a growing skills gap issue. On the latest edition of the Florida Chamber Bottom Line program, Chris Bonnell, Vice President of External Affairs at Western Governors University, discusses how postsecondary schools help close the skills gap and lead the way in building a stronger workforce in Florida. .
“The primary focus goes back to the competency-based education format that we deliver education by,” BONNELL said. “It allows for students to take prior learnings, workforce experience and bring that into an educational setting by proving their competencies in a certain skill area.”
