Earlier this year, Florida lawmakers took steps to protect consumers by ending Assignment of Benefits abuse in property insurance. But Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, in the latest edition of the Florida Chamber’s Bottom Line, says there is still work to be done.
“The auto glass version of AOB has got to be dealt with,” said CFO Patronis. “My office is committed to it, and if we just reflect on 2006 where we had 400 some-odd lawsuits that were AOB related lawsuits. This year we’re going to break 35,000. The lions’ share of that exploitation is the windshield glass fraud that takes place.”
Beware of Windshield Bullies
Auto glass fraud has become a costly scheme that harms hardworking Floridians and must be stopped. Windshield bullies prey on innocent auto insurance policyholders, and use high-pressure tactics to coerce signing an Assignment of Benefit form. BEWARE.
