The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) represents the nation’s leading biopharmaceutical research companies developing and delivering medicines to help patients live longer and healthier lives through ethical relationships and behavior. PhRMA strives to conduct effective advocacy for public policies that encourage the discovery of important, new medicines for patients by biopharmaceutical research companies. To accomplish this mission, PhRMA is dedicated to working with everyone in Washington, DC, and across the country.
What made you join the Florida Chamber Foundation’s Community Development Partnership Council, and what would you say to other Florida leaders about the benefit and value of this relationship?
Our relationship with the Florida Chamber Foundation is so important as it allows us to work together with Florida’s business leaders on a joint goal to improve health and economic viability. The Florida Chamber Foundation Community Development Partnership Council provides an opportunity to collaborate with an elite group of statewide leaders and serve as a thought leader on health and ensuring an innovative economy.
What are your particular goals/areas of interest as it applies to reaching the Florida 2030 Blueprint Goals?
The biopharmaceutical industry is key to Florida’s future. The biopharmaceutical industry supports 244,952 total jobs in Florida today with a total economic output of $64.3 billion. Florida is one of the top in the nation for clinical trials due to our diverse population with 1,735 total clinical trials taking place with a total economic impact of $4.65 billion. We look forward to supporting the Chamber’s work in the areas of business climate and competitiveness; wellness and health for all residents; skilled and prepared workforce; and value-added innovation economy.
