Florida Chamber Foundation’s Latest Analysis Shows Florida Leads the Nation for Business Relocations, Generating Four Times the Business Relocations in Texas

Tallahassee, FL (February 28, 2025) — The Florida Chamber Foundation has released a research brief analyzing firm migration to Florida annually. Our research team’s analysis reveals that Florida continues to lead the nation as a premier destination for business relocations, welcoming 503 net new businesses over the past year. This success emphasizes Florida’s remarkable growth as a top business hub, reinforcing Florida’s reputation as the best place in the nation to start and grow a business.  According to www.thefloridascorecard.org, with more than 47,000 new business start-ups in January 2025 alone, Florida continues to lead the nation in new business start-ups month after month.

Florida’s business relocations far outpaced other U.S. states, with Florida seeing more than four times the number of relocations as Texas. Florida’s impressive results stands in contrast to states like California, Illinois, New Jersey and New York, which experienced net losses in business relocations.

“Florida is not only the #1 state in the nation to start a new business–it’s the #1 state to move your business,” said Mark Wilson, President and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. “The Florida 2030 Blueprint is working and the ongoing success driven by sound policies, a pro-jobs environment, and the business community’s focus on growing Florida to the 10th largest economy by 2030 are the difference makers.”

In 2025, Florida continues to be a beacon for local business relocation and growth, building on a strong foundation that includes tax advantages, lawsuit reform, and state policies that foster a thriving economy. For instance, the strong partnership between Florida Department of Commerce and the Florida Chamber Foundation has been pivotal in ensuring Florida remains a top destination for relocation.

“The partnership between FloridaCommerce and the Florida Chamber Foundation in advancing the Florida 2030 Blueprint mission is instrumental in Florida remaining the #1 state to not only start or move a business, but to call home,” said J. Alex Kelly, Florida Secretary of Commerce. “The latest firm migration data reaffirms what we already know—while Florida is home to a favorable pro-business and tax climate, additional assets like our low crime rate and top-ranked education system continue to make Florida a top competitor.”

Florida’s strategic focus on attracting new businesses is part of a broader vision to highlight the companies driving technological advancement, innovation, and manufacturing growth in our economy.
