TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2017) – The Florida Chamber of Commerce today released the following statement from Mark Wilson, President and CEO, on ensuring science-based solutions are used to secure Florida’s water future.
“The Florida Chamber supports science-based solutions to secure the future of the state’s most precious resource – water.
The fix for addressing water quality and quantity issues in the Everglades ecosystem is not simple, but state leaders should stick to the Integrated Delivery Schedule – a roadmap for restoring the “River of Grass” and addressing issues in the local estuaries.
We stand with the water quality experts who are urging lawmakers to finish authorized projects such as the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, Herbert Hoover Dike rehabilitation, and the Kissimmee River Restoration. Lawmakers should take a cautious and careful approach when considering any options that may put funding for these critical projects at risk.”

In a recent interview with the Orlando Sentinel Editor Paul Owens, Wilson discusses the need for science-based solutions. “Where the Florida Chamber always comes down on this issue is…what do the scientists say needs to be done?”
