Halifax Health: Proudly Serving its Community for 90 Years

Take Our Healthcare Survey

As the area’s only safety net health system, Halifax Health has had a relentless commitment to providing the most comprehensive, highest quality health services to residents of Daytona Beach and surrounding Volusia County.

Opening its doors 90 years ago, Halifax Health began its journey with a mission of being the area’s healthcare leader and providing all necessary health services to the residents of the Halifax Hospital Taxing District – regardless of their ability to pay. This mission continues today and is evidenced by the over $60 million of uncompensated care and community programs (at cost) provided to those who reside in our district and beyond.  We are proud of our mission and also proud of the commitment displayed by our Board of Commissioners, physicians, team members and auxilians who deliver care at the highest level possible with a never-ending focus on medical excellence.

As a community health system, we rely on relationships and community partners to help us achieve our goals.  Some which come to mind are Halifax Health Hospice, the area’s oldest and most highly-rated hospice program, whose staff and hundreds of volunteers deliver compassionate end-of-life care to over 3000 people each year.  Our partnership with best in class UF Health for heart and vascular surgery and kidney transplant surgery has resulted in some of the best outcomes in the country and Halifax Health becoming a national destination for these procedures.

In addition, Halifax Health has partners with world class Brooks Rehabilitation to provide aggressive, inpatient rehabilitation for better patient outcomes than traditional rehab choices and most recently, when our area could not support pediatric rehab, Brooks and Halifax Health answered the call by partnering with Easter Seals to open a new outpatient rehabilitation center on our campus with room to grow and expand the services available to our children.

Not so long ago, there were over six community hospitals in Volusia County. Today there is only one – community owned, Halifax Health.  We’re still here after 90 years because of a commitment made long ago to serve with compassion and excellence.  That commitment is still alive and thriving today.  Here’s to another 90 years and beyond.
