As part of our ongoing manatee rescue and rehabilitation efforts, SeaWorld Orlando is excited to partner with 4Roots Farms, a local non-profit that uses hydroponic farming to grow nutrient-dense vegetables. 4Roots has been providing our team with about 1,000 pounds of lettuce each week. Lettuce serves as a vital substitute for seagrass, and manatees consume an average of 3,000 pounds of lettuce daily! The partnership has also provided our research team with an opportunity to study how varying sources of nutrient-rich lettuce can enhance the recovery process for manatees.
