The Florida Chamber Leadership Cabinet on Safety, Health and Sustainability hosted the 2025 Corporate Leadership Workshop on Safety & Mental Health in the Workplace at the GuideWell Innovation Center in Lake Nona. This event reinforced the Leadership Cabinet’s mission to make Florida the safest, healthiest, and most sustainable state in America by equipping business leaders with strategies to enhance workplace safety and mental well-being.

John Trevathan, Chair of the Florida Chamber Leadership Cabinet and VP of Corporate Services at GuideWell, opened the event by emphasizing the role leadership plays in fostering safer, healthier workplaces. Mark Morgan, Former Senior Human Resources Manager at NextEra Energy, Inc. and Author of The M.A.D. Safety Book for Leaders, led an insightful session on proactive safety leadership, highlighting how organizations can build stronger safety cultures.

In the afternoon, Dr. Heather Flynn, Chair of the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine at FSU College of Medicine, provided data-driven strategies to integrate mental health into workplace culture. Her session sparked important discussions on how businesses can support employee well-being, encourage open dialogue, and implement effective mental health initiatives.

The high level of engagement and participation underscored the growing need for leadership-driven strategies in these areas. A special thank you to Florida Blue, our host sponsor, for making this event possible.
