Governor DeSantis Signs Bill Putting Florida Citizens Back in Charge of Florida’s Constitution
Governor Ron DeSantis today signed a bill into law that will ensure Floridians are in charge of the Florida Constitution, not out-of-state and billionaire special interests.
“Florida’s constitution is under attack by out-of-state and special interests trying to buy their way onto Florida’s ballot,” said Mark Wilson, President and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. “This is an important step to put Floridians back in control of Florida’s constitution, and reduce the influence of well-funded special interests that advance their own agendas at the expense of Floridians.”
Instead of functioning as the revered document that serves as the basis of rights for all Floridians, the Florida Constitution has become a tool by which a few deep pocketed out-of-state billionaires are buying their way onto the ballot to pass their special interest agendas. The Florida Chamber applauds Governor DeSantis, Senator David Simmons, Representative Jamie Grant, and the Florida Legislature for helping put Florida citizens back in charge of the Florida Constitution.
